Inside the Book

This book is ground breaking.  Most health books today are just too technical or time-consuming to follow for more than a week.  Brainless Health tells people how they can avoid tubes, monitors, pills and wheelchairs — if they will apply simple lifestyle habits to their daily life.  People are not dumb, they are busy and getting healthy usually feels like it will take more time and attention than most people have to spare.  That's why this book focuses on the brainless things that we don't have to think about.  Once we adopt them, they will just fit into the background of our life the same way as brushing our teeth.  After that point, people are free to add any other health behaviors that they want.  I try to 'keep it simple stupid' and tell it like it is.  I cover so much brainless ground that everyone and their cousin should find a tip or two that will change their life.  I hope that you will read Brainless Health and then share it - photocopy it - quote it and certainly buy it for your family and friends because at the end of the day - we all need our health!

About the Author

Writing has always been a passion of mine, since my earliest days studying journalism and becoming a newspaper writer to running the communications for The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors.  I have covered all kinds of human interest topics, but I kept coming back to the issue of preventable suffering.  A lot of death and disability is beyond anyone's control but what breaks my heart the most, are those of us who can control our ability to live life to the fullest — but don't — because of the dangerous lifestyle habits we sometimes engage in without even thinking.  After I entered public health I discovered there was a need for clear and candid writing on the topic of simple health habits that don't involve logging your meals, tracking your steps or counting your macro nutrients. I try to cut through the confusing medical jargon and social media messaging in this book to discuss brainless health behaviors that will benefit us today and tomorrow.  I absolutely believe that we can change the trajectory of our country's health one life at a time if we take this "brainless approach" that builds health into the background of our life.  It will become second nature and in time and we will start living with built-in health. That is what Brainless Health is all about.  I hope you enjoy!
